Buffalo Creek Literacy Project serves adults in Stokes and Surry Counties.

Literacy is formally defined by the United States Congress as "an individual's ability to read, write and speak in English; compute and solve problems at levels of proficiency necessary to function on the job, in the family of the individual, and in society."

Special thanks to the United Fund of Stokes County!
Literacy Facts
There are almost 90 million people in the United States with limited literacy skills.
Many adults with extremely limited literacy skills live in destitute circumstances, unable to change their lives because they cannot read, write or do basic math.
